Matthias Schweighöfer (born March 11, 1981) is a German actor, director, producer, and voice actor. He began his acting career at a young age, gaining early recognition for his role in the children's television series Schloss Einstein (1998–2001). His transition to film was marked by a series of critically acclaimed performances that established him as one of the most versatile and prominent actors in contemporary German cinema.
Schweighöfer has since become a leading figure in German-language film, known for his work in both comedic and dramatic roles, including the romantic comedy What a Man (2011), which he also co-wrote, and the thriller series You Are Wanted (2016–2018). He gained international recognition for his portrayal of Ludwig Dieter in the Netflix film Army of Thieves (2021), a prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, which he also directed. In addition to his acting and directing work, Schweighöfer is a producer and voice actor, lending his voice to numerous film and television projects.
